Professor John Sweeney brings a wealth of experience and expertise in climate change and sustainability gained from many years of work in the academia and civil society. Over the last 37 years John has been instrumental to the development of Irish climate change science and championed a range of environmental and natural heritage issues. He is also a valued member of the scientific and civil society community at ‘both European and international levels. He is a passionate action oriented expert and has received accolades, awards and distinctions from many national and international bodies.
John mentors and represents the SmartEarth management team with a special focus on our work in Africa.
SmartEarth is a new consultancy company established (in Ireland) to assist developing countries build capacity and address the climate change issues confronting them. SmartEarth works with governments in developing countries – and with business and civil society – to secure finance, technology and training for climate change mitigation and adaptation, and to identify opportunities in transition to low-carbon climate resilient economies.
